I attended Oracle EBS Strategy Updates sessions by Cliff Godwin & Jeanne Lowell at OATUG Forum Online in April’2020. Here are my takeaways from the sessions.
Oracle EBS R12.1 premier support ends Dec 2021. Support beyond 2021 available thru Oracle Advanced Customer Services(ACS) contract.
EBS 12.2 provides substancial value now and into future:
The latest Oracle EBS Release is R12.2.9
1. Online Patching for reduced downtime: Users remain online while patches are applied. User downtime is limited to a short cutover period. Critical business operations and revenue generating activities continue during patching.
2. Enterprise Command Centers: Available in EBS 12.2.4 or higher versions only. No additional license cost to use Oracle ECC. Currently 28 command centers and 95 dashboards across Oracle EBS. More and more dash boards will be added in the future releases.
3. 10 years of functional advancements and UX improvements beyond EBS 12.1
- New HTML User Interfaces for Sales Order, Receiving , Shipping transactions, Material Workbench
- Common Look & Feel for Users of Both EBS and Cloud Apps
4. Continuous Innovation: Ongoing functional enhancements and modernization
- Updating underlying technology while keeping the same level of EBS Code. No major upgrades after R12.2.x and only Fusion middleware tech stack upgrades. No need to rewrite customizations.
- New and Enhanced business functions across the Oracle EBS modules.
5. Long-term premier support: Oracle EBS R12.2.x premier support through atleast 2031
6. Oracle EBS R12.1 & R12.2.x are certified with Oracle database 19c. For Oracle EBS, Database R11.2 extended support ends in Dec’2020 and Database R12.1 extended support ends in July’2020
7. Person Data Removal Tool (DRT) to Help Remove Personal Sensitive Data for Selected Persons (Employees/Contingent workers/Suppliers/Customers/EBS Users)
