Fusion Supply Planning – Implementing Safety Stock planning with user defined Quantities

Safety stock quantity ae maintained in inventory to cover any fluctuations in demand. Maintaining a sufficient level of safety stock allows businesses to continue supplying goods to their customers even if they encounter supply disruptions.

Here are the detailed steps to implement safety stock planning method with user defined quantities

  1. Define item with Safety Stock Planning Method = Safety Stock Quantity

Navigation: PIM > Manage Items > Query for item > Open the item in specific inventory org (V01) > Specifications > Planning (Sub Tab)

Note: Please make sure that the Inventory Planning Method is set to None. Otherwise Inventory planning method will take precedence over Safety Stock Planning Method.

2. Create FBDI file

Use ScpSafetyStockLevelImportTemplate.xlsm template file to enter items and their associated safety stock quantities, then generate safety stock levels CSV file.

  • Enter inventory org, item number and safety stock quantity. Goto the first tab and generate CSV file
  • Compress the CSV file by Right clicking on it > Compress to Zip file > Name the compressed file with appropriate name like ScpSafetyStockLevelImportTemplate_V01.zip
  1. Run the Collections to collect the item(s), including safety stock planning method item attribute

Navigation: Supply Chain Planning > Plan Inputs > Tasks Tab > Collect Planning Data

Run the collections for Targeted Complete / Net Change

  1. File Upload: Upload the safety stock level zip generated in Step# 2

Navigation: Tools > File Import and Export > + (Update) under Search Results

  • File = Step# 2 ZIP file
  • Account = scm/planningDataLoader/import

5. File Upload: Run “Load Planning Data from Files”

Navigation: Supply Chain Planning > Plan Inputs > Tasks Tab > Load Planning Data from Files

Note:

Collection Type: Targeted -> This option wipes out existing safety stock for all items across all organizations regardless of the org in the upload file
Net -> Delta changes uploaded (exiting item quantity changes and new item quantities)

6. Plan Option Changes

Supply Chain Planning > Supply Planning > Tasks > Manage Plans Edit Plan Options > Safety Stock Tab

  • Set Safety Stock Planning Method to user specified values for all items
  • Enable Apply the override quantities for safety stock

7. Run the supply Plan

Supply Chain Planning > Supply Planning > Tasks > Manage Plans > select the supply plan > Actions > Run

Once the supply is plan is completed, Review the results.
